ABOUT OUR WINE EDUCATION SPECIALIST

Even though Shelly is a California native, she began her wine career while living with her family in London. While abroad, Shelly decided a career do-over was in order and she enrolled in the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, and then apprenticed under a wine shop owner.

In 2010, Shelly moved to Seattle and began her Washington wine career as the New World wine buyer for Wine World and Spirits, and later worked as sole wine buyer for Downtown Spirits. Since moving to Washington, Shelly has immersed herself in Washington wine culture from all angles including the diversity among growing Washington's many grape varietals to the education associated with it. She is an excellent choice if you have questions you want answered about anything!

Shelly has advanced her knowledge by earning many accreditations in the wine industry, including:

  • Society of Wine Educators, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW)
  • Court of Masters Level 2, Certified Sommelier (CS)
  • Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET), Level 3

  • When Shelly isn't hanging out at Columbia Winery, she is a professional wine judge at different competitions through the area.

Shelly's passion is making wine approachable. So if you have questions about wine, no matter how silly you think they might be, Shelly is the perfect person to ask.

Virtual classes are offered as well.
