Winemaking Notes

The 2016 Vision Red Blend was crafted entirely with grapes sourced from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. We set our sites on the renowned Six Prong Vineyard, which has offered consistent, high-quality fruit over the years. This particular site provides concentrated flavors resulting in wines with ripe dark notes and a slightly reduced amount of acidity. The 2016 growing season began early, with warm temperatures lasting through the summer.

Tasting Notes

Our winemaker had a vision to create a distinctive Red Blend that stood out because of its color, flavor and finish. Keeping in mind his goal of crafting a Rhone-style blend, he combined together three classic Rhone grapes: Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. The 2016 Vision Red Blend offers aromas filled with delicious ripe plum, cranberry and a unique pepper spice note from the Mourvedre. Hints of red and dark fruits, reminiscent of cherry pie filling, meld with soft tannins and lead into a lasting finish.

Varietal Content:  64% Syrah, 25% Mourvedre, 11% Grenache

"A big step up in price, the 2016 Red Blend Vision Horse Heaven Hills (64% Syrah, 25% Mourvèdre, and 11% Grenache) reveals a deep purple/ruby color as well as a peppery, blue-fruited, mineral-laced style in its aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, nicely balanced, with good acidity and freshness, it's a classic Washington State red to drink over the coming 7-8 years." - JD
