In the Columbia Valley, the 2013 vintage was the warmest in over a decade. A hot growing season resulted in smaller berries with a lower skin-to-juice ratio, creating wines with more concentrated color and flavor than years past. The hotter-than-usual temperatures gave way to a cool harvest in September and October. This unusually quick weather shift resulted in grapes that provided intense flavors with balanced acidity characteristic of Washington State wines.
Our Columbia Winery Viognier opens with aromas of peach and honeysuckle. On the palate, approachable flavors of apricot and spice unfold to create a textured mouthfeel and luscious finish, making this medium-bodied wine easy to enjoy. Because of its balanced acidity, Viognier pairs well with crab or other shellfish, as well as richer seafood or chicken dishes.
