Winemaking Notes

After harvesting in early to mid-October 2014, the grapes for this wine were destemmed and transferred to tanks. We saignéed part of the Grenache to enhance color and structure. Fermentations occurred at 85°F in small-lot, stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, pump-overs were used for intense extraction of color and flavor. Malolactic fermentation was completed to create a round mouthfeel. All lots were barrel aged in 225-liter barrels for 17 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak barrels, 48% of which were new.

2014 Vision

For this Grenache Syrah Blend, Winemaker Sean Hails had a vision to create a contemporary Rhône-inspired blend, one that stood out against the rest because of its color, flavor and finish. Crafted with grapes from specially selected blocks in the Columbia Valley, our Vision Red Blend is a delicious realization of Sean’s design. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre make up the majority of this blended wine, while Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon add just a touch more structure and complexity to complete this wine. The nose is filled with notes of Bing cherry, cranberry and a hint of spice from the Mourvedre. The mouthfeel is expansive with layers of blackberry and dark cherry flavors, culminating in a long, pleasing finish.
